| AOL - Bring Your Own ISP |
| America
Online offers a service to customers who wish to connect to AOL through an
outside Internet Service Provider (ISP) like MaxInterNet. This system
offers a faster connection (than through AOL) to the Internet plus access to
AOL's content. NOTE: you need to sign up with AOL for this setup to work. If you are already aware of this program and have already signed up with both MaxInterNet and AOL (using their "Bring Your Own ISP" program), this is how to make it work. 1. Install the software provided by MaxInterNet. 2. Open AOL's log-on screen. Click on the SETUP button.
3. This brings you to the Network & Modem Setup window. Click on Edit Location.
4. This brings you to the Network Setup window. Next, click on the Network pull-down menu and select TCP/IP. Click on Save.
5. Click OK at the Network & Modem Setup window. 6. Once you have made this change to your AOL settings the procedure for logging on will be: FIRST - Dialup to MaxInterNet using the Internet icon on your desktop. Once you have successfully logged on, THEN - start AOL and browse their content, or browse the Internet using Microsoft Internet Explorer (provided by MaxInterNet). |
